This was a fascinating experience performing in Las Vegas and meeting Lance Burton, the dream of every magician.  After performing at The Solid Rock Auditorium, a well dress elderly young man approached me and started showing me some really cool tricks.  He stated that he really enjoyed our show, especially our sub-trunk routine.  He asked how long were we going to be in town and then proceeded to ask me if I knew who he was.  I said no, to which he replied “my name is Darwin.”  Well about that time I was totally humbled and amazed that this man of his stature would give our show such a compliment.   

In case you don’t know who this man is, Darwin has written several books, invented numorous routines and tricks for the magic community.  He is quite well known worldwide for his magical endeavors.  Darwin invited my wife, Stephani and I to his museum to see his collection of classic magic, props, books and inventions.  During our visit at his multimillion dollar museum Darwin started talking about Lance Burton quite a bit.  Darwin told me that Lance and he were great friends.  In fact he said that Lance came over allot to browse through his library of magic and they talked quite often on the phone.  I was not too sure about what Darwin was saying so in the back of my mind I figured he was pulling my leg.  

The phone rang and of course Darwin picks up the phone and proceeds to talk.  He began to tell the other person on the phone about us and our show.  He states that he really enjoyed our show; our sub-trunk routine was very good and really different.   He also proceeded to tell the other person on the phone the he (Darwin) saw a little of you in me and that I reminded him of you.  No I have no clue who he was talking to but my curiosity was peeked.  Darwin sets the phone to the side and asked me if I would like to talk to Lance Burton, it’s him on the phone.   I said your joking right?  No I’m not, here, talk to Lance.  Now in the back of my mind I am convinced that this is a practical joke.  I take the phone and say hello and the voice on the other line was Lance Burton and boy was I surprised and excited.  I’m talking to Lance, one of the world’s best magicians.  He invites us to his show, pays for it and to top it off, Stephani got to go on stage with Lance to help him with his vanishing bird cage routine.  

That was quite the trip, thank you Darwin and thank you Lance Burton.
