The Magician 918-409-3697
You see the coin in the illusionist’s hand, but seconds later you see it vanish right before your own eyes. How in the world? You’re mystified as birds seemingly appear and vanish into thin air. You watch as the illusionist is cuffed, shackled, chained, padlocked and locked securely inside an impenetrable canvas bag, but moments later he escapes from behind a curtain to reveal…the locks are still locked. Unbelievable! It just doesn’t make sense. Or does it?
His name is Brett Alan Shaw, and since viewing a magic show at a grand opening of a new apartment complex at the age of 29, he has been fascinated with magic, illusion and how easily the senses are deceived. At age 30 he gave his first public performances. Today, at the age of 48, he is a classically trained, award-winning, master illusionist, and an expert in the art of deception. He has performed before thousands of people in more than twelve nations on four continents.
More than an entertainer, more than a speaker, Brett is an illusionist who's redefining the art illusion. But what is an illusionist? When we hear that word, most people usually think of someone along the lines of a magician, entertainer, David Copperfield, etc. "An Illusionist is someone who can create a supernatural effect by using natural means."
For Brett, magic consists of so much more than simple tricks. To him, it’s about creating a sense of wonder. “It’s not about fooling the audience and making them feel stupid, but taking them on a magical journey of illusion and theater of the mind”, says Brett. “Yet magicians across America have taken on the attitude of—look what I can do that you can’t.”
Put simply, Brett is elevating the art of illusion to its original place in the performing arts. You can forget what you know about typical illusionists—no cheesy or cheap tricks. It is not just about what audiences see, but about what they experience. And better yet, what they feel. This is magic at its best, and truly, a creative work of art, "the art of illusion".In fact, it is so much so that Brett and his family have been recognized by their peers on an international level. Brett has truly mastered the art of illusion and has been named America’s Best Entertainers from those who have had the utmost pleasure of viewing their performance. How does he accomplish his unbelievable feats of ledgerdemaine? I guess some illusions will always remain a mystery.
